- New 2016 Captiva offers enhanced smartphone connectivity for Apple and Android users, active safety features for accident prevention and updated styling
- Storm edition of Colorado High Country brings bold, tough styling to top-of-the-line pickup truck
- Special promotions introduced at Chevrolet’s redesigned Motor Expo booth
BANGKOK, THAILAND – 1 December 2015, Chevrolet Sales Thailand introduced the new 2016 Chevrolet Captiva, which offers enhanced smartphone connectivity, advanced active safety features and updated styling at the 32nd Thailand International Motor Expo 2015 under the theme ‘In Touch Is In Control’. The brand also unveiled its new Colorado High Country Storm edition and launched new customer promotions at its redesigned Chevrolet booth.
The 2016 Captiva features the new MyLink infotainment system, which provides unsurpassed connectivity and convenience for smartphone users through the plug-and-play Android Auto and Apple CarPlay apps developed specifically for automotive use by Google and Apple, respectively. Chevrolet is the first brand globally to introduce Apple CarPlay’s Siri Eyes Free functionality, and among the first to offer Android Auto functionality.
“The Captiva is a popular and established model, hence it was a challenge to make it better. And we did. It now comes with unsurpassed smartphone connectivity, active safety features and a fresh, redesigned exterior and interior,” Una Tan, Director, Marketing and Customer Experience, Chevrolet Sales Thailand.
“It is targeted at the urban-lifestyle customers. The Captiva is the proper, urban SUV. Modern, comfortable, luxurious, complete with the necessary connectivity functions, safety and design all packaged in, and built on a robust SUV platform,” Tan added.
Captiva also comes with new active safety features including Side Blind Zone Alert, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and Rear Park Assist, all of which use radar sensors located within the Captiva to monitor the surrounding environment and warn the driver of any obstacles. It also features Rear Park Assist – a useful feature in tight parking confines in the city.
On the design front, one of the most noticeable changes is the treatment to the front end, particularly the headlamps, which are more compact and come integrated with daytime running lights. The other major redesign is on the front grille, with the Chevrolet bowtie repositioned on the upper section of the redesigned signature dual-port grille. The overall treatment has given the Captiva a refreshed, high-tech and contemporary feel. More importantly, this brings the Captiva’s design in line with Chevrolet’s current global designs. Likewise, the rear fascia is updated with integrated, stylized chrome exhaust tips and LED taillamps for a sportier, more up-to-date appearance.
Other improvements include a new driver information cluster display with more legible graphics, including new icons for differentiating between Cruise Control Engaged and Cruise Control Ready. The driver information can be customized via switches next to the steering wheel. Viewing options include distance, fuel range, average and real-time fuel economy, and speed. The driver can view engine coolant temperature and specific air pressure levels for each tire, the latter being an industry or segment first in some markets. The center stack buttons are now backlit in white for better visibility and reconfigured for improved driver ergonomics.
In addition to the Captiva, Chevrolet launched the Colorado High Country ‘Storm’ Edition. The special edition model has additional body parts for an even more rugged look. In addition to a special ‘Storm’ badge that places it above all other pickup trucks, the High Country ‘Storm’ features a black sport bar, hood decal, grille, side mirrors, door handles, body decals and fully-painted 18-inch wheels. The entire package lends an air of restrained aggression to the already robust and rugged High Country.
All this, plus other models, are displayed at Chevrolet’s booth which features a new design direction. Themed ‘Life Connectivity’, it is more modern and fresh and developed to enhance engagement at all levels with its audience. It features a phone integration kiosk demonstration, a town square bench and the renowned Chevy Plus lounge. Various large flat screen panels are strategically placed all over the booth so visitors and customers can truly immerse themselves in the ‘Chevrolet experience’.
In conjunction with the 32nd Thailand International Motor Expo 2015, Chevrolet also is offering a trade-in promotion.
