“BRIGHTON COLLEGE BANGKOK” RAISES THE BAR IN SOUTH EAST ASIA’S PREMIUM EDUCATION MARKET

Bangkok, 7 November 2016 Ms. Nusara (Assakul) Banyatpiyaphod, Chairman of Hands Management Company Limited, proudly announced the official opening of “Brighton College International School Bangkok”, sister school of the UK’s top independent school, which recently welcomed its founding Pre-Prep pupils. Brighton College Bangkok offers an inspirational education defined by idividualisation, excellent teaching and an innovative curriculum incorporating problem solving and enquiry-based learning.
The initial target for enrolment was a 50-50 ratio between local and foreign pupils and this goal has been accomplished by the pre-opening leadership team. In the safe and secure environment of the purpose-built Pre-Prep School, which is part of a 51-rai campus, children are encouraged to pursue opportunities that will support them in discovering and pursuing their own distinctive set of talents, as well as learning skills that will prepare them in becoming resilient, respectful and versatile global citizens of the future.
Ms. Nusara (Assakul) Banyatpiyaphod, Chairman of Hands Management Company Limited said, “The Pre-Prep School for children between the ages of 2 and 9 years old, is the first part of Brighton College Bangkok to open, while the Prep and Senior School will commence in September 2017. Initially, we have met our preliminary target for enrolment taking into account our selectivity and goal for nationality mix. Our founding pupils who joined us on 8 September 2016, along with our outstanding teachers, have helped us build a vibrant, unique community in a short period of time. Our small class sizes allow us to know our pupils extremely well, allowing for a forensic focus and individualised learning. Our teachers challenge and support all our pupils, wherever their strengths may lie”.
The Pre-Prep School’s buildings are equipped with resources and materials for children to gain the most from experiential learning opportunities. This includes outside learning areas, covered and open-air and sensory play zones, a wading pool, in which the youngest pupils can build their water confidence, a light and airy Art Studio and a unique Learning Resource Centre, which has been designed to facilitate hands-on learning and includes our fantastic Library.
“Brighton College provides its pupils with a healthy and happy balanced school life, a key ethos to a Brighton education. Our team of inspirational teachers, 75% of which have taught in leading UK independent schools, provide children with an unparalleled level of attention to detail. This means each child’s achievements are noticed and celebrated and he or she can become the very best version of themselves possible. For us, excellence does not only refer to academic performance but also in becoming well-rounded individuals and pursuing talent in sport, drama, music, languages, or any field where a pupil’s interest lies. All of our pupils learn English, Thai and Mandarin Chinese to ensure they are prepared for the culture in which they live and the world they will inherit. At Brighton College Bangkok traditional barriers between subjects are broken down to create a sense of relevance, which enables our pupils’ inter-disciplinary awareness and for them to make important connections in their learning”, added Mr. David Tongue, Headmaster of Brighton College Bangkok.
The complete College, which includes the Prep and Senior Schools, will open in September 2017. In the Prep School, the curriculum for pupils aged between 9 and 13 focuses on supporting children to gain confidence, whilst motivating them to question the world around them, in order to instill a sense of creativity and innovation. On entry to Senior School, the curriculum becomes increasingly focused, fully preparing pupils for the academic challenges of IGCSE and providing them with the depth of understanding required in order to achieve the highest possible grades. In Years 12 and 13 pupils typically choose to concentrate on four subjects to study at A-level, as they prepare for university entrance.
Prior to making an application, the faculty and staff would advise interested families to book a visit with the Admissions team which would be followed with a scheduled assessment. If a family is based overseas and unable to visit, the Registrar will guide them through the process.
Recently, Brighton College Bangkok has joined the Council of British International Schools (COBIS), the premier association for International British Schools Overseas, and is the only member school in Bangkok.
