Robot Design Contest 2016 kicks off with the aim to drive forward manufacturing and service industries

Prof. Dr. Supot Teachavorasinskun (center – 2nd from the right side), Dean of Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University, posed for a group photo with Dr. Surat Kwanmuang, a lecturer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University, Asst. Prof. Dr. Wittaya Wannasuphoprasit, the Head of Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University, and 72 students from 22 institutions across Thailand during the “Robot Design Contest 2016” opening ceremony recently held at the Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University. The main aim of this 9th event is to search for the talented Thai engineering students to join the IDC RoBoCon 2016, which will be held in Thailand, to systematically train and create personnel in the fields of robots and automation to cope with the expansion of the manufacturing and service industries. Students participating in the contest will also learn to work together as a team with their colleagues from other institutions. The contestant who designs and creates a robot that performs best in the competition will be declared the winner. All the 72 students will attend a 20-day workshop at the Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University prior to the final round which will take place on July 25, 2016 at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center.
