Athakravi Group introduces Suanplern Market on Rama IV

as part of its plan to develop prime land in Bangkok and build its retail business
Athakravi Group ups its retail game by introducing Suanplern Market on a prime spot on Rama IV Road, targeting Thai and expat residents as well as several thousand office workers in the area. The project is valued at 2 billion baht and is designed in an “industrial loft” concept, replicating a railway station in the old days. The new market mall presents over 250 shops and lifestyle magnets as well as a large activity space. The group has more land plots in Rama IV and Rama IX areas, and confirms its plan to expand its retail business through sustainable development.
Athakehaputt Company Limited has a long history in Thailand’s real estate scene, having been among the first to develop office buildings and condominiums on Sukhumvit and Rama IV roads. Today, it is ready to introduce its latest project on Rama IV Road – Suanplern Market. The new market mall is located on more than 10 rai of land belonging to the Athakravisunthorn family. The press conference introducing the project will take place on Tuesday 29th September.
Capt Atichart Athakravisunthorn, director of Athakehaputt Company Limited, said the company recognises the potential of economic growth in Rama IV area.  Nowadays, homes and offices have limited space, so this new project will serve as a second home where people can come to relax and enjoy various activities together.
The target customers of Suanplern Market are Thai families and expats in Sukhumvit and Rama IV area; office workers within the 2-5km radius from the project such as those working at Maleenont and Esso Buildings, Sirinrat Building, TOT, Manorom Building, and Green Tower, which together account for over 10,000 office workers; as well as those living further out who seek a new and convenient style of urban living.
More importantly, Suanplern Market is located among numerous residential homes and condominiums on Rama IV road and Sukhumvit road, both existing as well as many upcoming projects. It is expected that the area will continue to be more populated in the future.
“Over the past three years, we have developed various plots of our family land, such as A Square and Warehouse 26 on Sukhumvit 26 road. This year we introduce Suanplern Market on Rama IV Road, which is one of the major commercial roads in Bangkok with high economic potential. We want to develop our family land which has been around for more than 80 years. This is a good location with a large number of population living and working in the area, as well as commuting to nearby financial districts of Bangkok such as Sathorn and Silom. There are many houses and condominiums around here, and many more are coming. Currently, there is no such project on Rama IV Road which can fulfill the needs of consumers as Suanplern Market will,” said Capt Atichart.
“The building and interior design are in the industrial loft style inspired by Thailand’s first railway line, the Paknam route, which was constructed during the reign of King Rama V and ran past where Suanplern Market now stands. The ceiling is heightened to resemble the railway station in the old days. Design features incorporate the railway concept throughout the mall. Our goal is to create a space with a homely atmosphere that is inviting to everyone, a meeting place for all ages.”
The concept of Suanplern Market is "Enjoy Shopping, Enjoy Tasting”. This green and relaxing mall features almost 10,000 sq m of functional space, with a 700 sq m activity square which can be used for events and concerts.
Suanplern Market is a two-storey closed mall with more than 250 shops divided into different zones. The Food & Beverage Zone features famous eateries, both existing and new, available for dine-in and take-home options. These include Nai Sai pork with rice, Tiaw Na Klang noodles, Kinniku Gyudon, Zen, Santa Fe Steak, Nittaya, T24, Shabu One and the first downtown Starbucks Coffee Drive Thru. The Fashion Zone features clothes and accessories from virtual stores and well-known brands available at affordable prices. The Health & Beauty Zone caters for all your needs. One can get beautified from head to toe with salons, beauty and dental clinics.
The Home Décor Zone is for those who want to create a lovely home, while the Hobby Zone features a wide array of collectibles and hobbies. Those who like to stay on top of technology trends can shop new gadgets such as phones, computers, electronic devices and accessories at the IT & Gadgets Zone.   Plant and pet lovers can have fun in the pet-friendly Plant & Pet Zone with pet shops & grooming services, pet clinic, plants, garden decor and gardening supplies.
To make the lifestyles of urban residents even more convenient, Suanplern Market has also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Makro Food Service to open its first store at Suanplern Market’s premises on Rama IV Road.
“The highlight of Suanplern Market, in addition to its prime location, is the diversity of shops. We have famous clothing brands, small shops and stores of online brands, offering accessible items for everyone. Our parking space can accommodate over 300 cars, and it is easily accessible from Port– Artnarong expressway exit into Rama IV, which only takes 15 minutes, and from Queen Sirikit National Convention Center MRT station and PhromPhong BTS station,” Capt Atichart said.
He also added that the family has more land plots on Rama IV and Rama IX in the pipeline for further development. The group’s vision is to develop the land sustainably to create a good quality of life not just for nearby residents and users, but for all stakeholders of society.
