Bangkok organizes the Bangkok Winter Festival @ Khlong Phadung Krung Kasem as one of the Colorful Bangkok 2023 festivals. Various activities are organized so that all citizens can creatively use the space together according to the identity of the community under the concepts of the sharing economy, creative neighborhood, and place identity. This festival promotes creative tourism, creates interest, and attracts both Thai and foreign tourists to travel in the Khlong Phadung Krung Kasem area. The community philosopher is the one who conveys the story of the identity of the community and society in the Khlong Phadung Krung Kasem area to be widely known to both Thai and foreign tourists, leading to generating income for entrepreneurs and shops, including stimulating the tourism economy in the area along the Phadung Krung Kasem canal.
Mr. Sanon Wangsrangboon Deputy Governor of Bangkok said Bangkok by the Office of Culture and Tourism organizes the Bangkok Winter Festival @ Khlong Phadung Krung Kasem project to promote creative tourism formats, using the Phadung Krung Canal, which was an important canal in the past to connect various neighborhoods. Each area has its distinctiveness and identity such as the Talat Noi area -- Young Late Night, Urban Crafting Point, Debsirin-Hua Lamphong area -- Fun Youth Urban Meeting Point, Bobae area Wai Kao -- Urban Playing Point, and the Saphan Khao area, Urban Living Point. Bangkok has adjusted the landscape of the Khlong Phadung Krung Kasem area to be beautiful so that all citizens can use the space together creatively. It is in line with the government's policy to promote tourism, adding color, brightness, and vitality to the city.
Another interesting thing about “Khlong Phadung Krung Kasem” besides the name “Phadung Krung Kasem” which means “supporting the country to be stable and happy”, all bridges also have names that rhyme and mean "Bridge built by angels". This includes (1) Devesara Narumit Bridge, which means it was built by the great god (Shiva), (2) Vissukham Narueman Bridge, which means the god Vishnukarma built it, (3) Makhawan Rangsan Bridge, which means the god Indra built it, (4) Thevakarma Rangrak Bridge means a bridge built by Devakama, (5) The last bridge is Chaturabhakt Rangsarit (Saphan Khao) means the god Brahma is the creator. Khlong Phadung Krung Kasem is considered a center of travel - history - culture, and diversity of ages. When the places of the old city mix with the new city and merge with us including people in the community, city development groups, government agencies, the private sector, and the general public who take part until it becomes a city that is outstanding and has its own identity. It creates love, bonding, and conservation of one's city or neighborhood. Therefore, it is a path that creates happiness in terms of meeting, learning, exchanging creativity, and living together with the old and new generations. It creates happiness to live, happiness to see, happiness to eat, happiness to walk, and happiness to obtain. This is the origin of the concept of “Phadungsukkasem.” The event route will start at “Nakhon Sawan Pier”, passing Thewakrom Rangrak Bridge, Chaturaphak Rangsarit Bridge. Visitors can walk around and admire the Hi-light, colorful Nang Loeng decorated lights at “Larn Luang Pier”, walk through Charoen Rat Bridge, watch the Hi-light illumination show telling the story of the colorful the White Bridge around the “Ministry of Energy Pier”, walk through the bridge over the Kasetsuk Intersection, enjoy the Hi-light Bobae Light Tunnel, see the Hi-light illumination of Ban Phibuntham around “Yotse Pier”, walk through Noppawong Bridge and “Noppawong Pier”, walk along the route to see the light decorations around “Hua Lamphong Pier”, see Hi-light Landmark, Dimension of Light Tunnel and finish at “Hua Lamphong Station Pier”.
The Bangkok Winter Festival @ Khlong Phadung Krung Kasem is divided into 4 locations: Talat Noi area, Debsirin-Hua Lamphong area, Bobae area and Saphan Khao area. There are important fire display activities as follows:
Talat Noi area: watch the highlights, a light show telling the story of colorful at Talat Noi and admire the lights of Talat Noi in front of the entrance to Zhou Sigong Shrine.
Debsirin–Hua Lamphong area: watch the highlights of Hua Lamphong's lights, the Dimension of Light Tunnel landmark.
Bobae area: watch the highlights of Ban Phibuntham's lights, the landmark Bobae Light Tunnel.
Saphan Khao area: watch the highlights of Nang Loeng Lights, the light show telling the story of the colorful Saphan Khao.
Bangkok Winter Festival@Khlong Phadung Krung Kasem will be held between 15-17 December 2023 and 22-24 December 2023 at Khlong Phadung Krung Kasem area from 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. There were many performances such as KIKI, Kalipse, VitaminD, Bowie, Lemony, Lula, May - Fonpha The Voice 2, Tuk Wiyada + Jeab Nonthiya, Heart, TrixO' Treat, Lit it up, Winai Panturak, Nong Khai Tun + Joe Chalermsak Golden song, marching band performance, singing show, music show from famous schools Debsirin, Saipanya, Traimit, Satri Wat Mahaprutharam, performance from dance house, sand painting, outdoor movie screening, opera performance, roller dance, aerobic dance, etc.
