Mr.
Sumed Prasongpongchai, Director of The Gem and Jewelry Institute of Thailand or
GIT reveals that GIT saw the importance of creating sustainability for Thai gem
and jewelry industry, through the development of the potential of Thai jewelry
designers. The Gem and Jewelry Institute of Thailand gives importance to and
promotes Thai designers through the jewelry design contest, as well as inviting
entrepreneurs and designers to visit the Awarding Ceremony of GIT’s World
Jewelry Design Awards 2021 which was held at Life Style Hall, 2nd
Floor, Siam Paragon Shopping Center on 27th October 2021. The contest is a
platform for Thai designers to showcase their talents internationally, where
GIT is ready to prepare and push Thai designers to stand on the global stage.
GIT’s
World Jewelry Design Awards 2021 is hosted for the 15th time this year under
the theme “Intergeneration Jewelry” – jewelry for every generation, which
corresponds to the concept of designing jewelry for everyone (Design for all),
a jewelry collection that transcend the limitation of each generation and can
be worn by all ages. In this contest, the institute has drawn experts in
jewelry design from renown institute in Italy, South Korea and Iran to join the
judging committee of the contest and also a plan to build cooperation with
design institutes in both Europe and Asia to bring Thai designers to the global
stage. The 4 finalists of GIT’s World Jewelry Design Awards 2021 consisted of 3
Thai designers, selected from 402 submission from 27 countries around the
world. Designs from the 30 finalists will be displayed in drawings at the
Awarding Ceremony and Winner Announcement, where the winner will receive a
Royal Trophy from Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Krom Phra
Srisavangavadhana. The jewelry collection from the 4 finalists has been
produced into a real jewelry piece which will be worn by models in this
ceremony. The institute if honored by Mrs. Nuntawan Sakuntanaga, Chairman of
the Gem and Jewelry Institute of Thailand as the Chairman of the ceremony to
reinforce Thailand’s leadership in the international arena.
