BETAGRO stands by Thais through COVID-19 by kicking off Project BETAGRO #recover19 ‘Offering 30,000 kilograms of quality food to medical staff of 22 hospitals nationwide’

Bangkok, 8 April 2020 – BETAGRO, Thailand’s leader in the food industry, reaffirms its commitment to contributing to the quality of life of Thai people through high quality and safe food at fair price, kicks off a special project ‘BETAGRO #recover19’ to stand by Thai people amidst the spread of COVID-19. Through this project, BETAGRO will help Thai people to stay healthy by providing high quality and safe food at fair price. Betagro will also offer emergency assistance and support through three main entities –the public health, the government’s policy and society.   


Vasit Taepaisitphongse, CEO and President of Betagro Group reveals that “Since the beginning of COVID-19 spreading in December, public health authorities and medical staff have work extremely hard to handle the continuously raising cases. The sudden rise in food demands has result in the price hike in some products. BETAGRO, as a leader in Thailand’s food industry, is aware of this need and recognizes the importance of ensuring food safety and hygiene to assure our consumers and highlight our purpose as helping people and their communities achieve better quality of life through better quality, more safe and fair priced foods. Therefore, we have introduced the ‘BETAGRO #recover 19’ project to offer emergency assistance and apply measures as follow; 
Supporting the public health


1. BETAGRO has donated 5 million baht to support medical supply procurement and offered 5,000 bottles of alcohol sanitizers to five hospitals namely Ramathibodi Hospital, Bamrasnaradura Infectious Diseases Institute, Siriraj Hospital, Thammasat University Hospital and King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital.  


2. BETAGRO has offered 30,000 kilograms of frozen fresh food through BETAGRO #Recover19 caravan to help doctors, nurses, and medical staff so they can have access to high quality and safe food for consumption. The products will be delivered on April 9 onwards to 22 hospitals nationwide, namely: 


2.1. Bangkok : Ramathibodi Hhospital, Bamrasnaradura Infectious Diseases Institute, Siriraj Hospital and Rajavithi Hospital 
2.2. The North : Chiang Rai Prachanukroh Hospital, Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital, Kokha Hospital Lampang and Buddhachinaraj Hospital Phitsanulok
2.3. The North East : Maharat Nakhon Ratchasima Hospital and Mahasarakham Hospital 
2.4 The Central Region : HRH Princess MahaChakri Sirindhorn Medical Center, Nakhonnayok, Maha Vajiralongkorn Thanyaburi Hospital Pathumthani, King Narai Hospital Lopburi, Nakornpathom Hospital, Samutprakarn Hospital and Samut Sakhon Hospital
2.5. The West : Ratchaburi Hospital  
2.6. The South : Phatthalung Hospital, Vachira Phuket Hospital, Maharaj Nakhon Si Thammarat Hospital and Krabi Hospital 


3.BETAGRO supported a local SME restaurant ‘Jay Jong Fried Pork’ by offering 1,000 kilograms of seasoned pork as an ingredient to cook for medical staff. 
Supporting the government’s policy: BETAGRO ensures that its products, including fresh pork, fresh chicken meat, fresh eggs and processed food, meets the demand of consumers.   


Supporting the society: BETAGRO ensures nationwide coverage and timely distribution so that Thai people can conveniently access its products through various channels. Its products are available at leading stores such as Tops Supermarket, Gourmet Market, Foodland Supermarket, Villa Supermarket, Max Valu, UFM Fuji, Big C, Tesco Lotus, Makro, BETAGRO hygienic pork shops, 18 branches of BETAGRO Deli, and 197 branches of BETAGRO shop. Additionally, the products are also available online at HappyFresh, Tops Online, and Villa Market Online. Delivery service is available offering fresh pork, chicken meat, frozen pork and chicken products, ready to cook products and ready to eat products, more than 30 items, straight from BETAGRO Deli shops and BETAGRO shops to consumers’ home, with special promotions throughout April.   


Additionally, the company has initiated a project for consumer and BETAGRO Staff named ‘#betagro #recover19 standing together with Thais through COVID-19 situation’, inviting everyone to unite and show their support by posting photos and stories of how they follow the measures or contribute to the society on social media to show support to Thai people during this time.
