teaming up with runners for the purchase of medical equipment
to Somdej Na Sriracha Hospital, Chonburi
On this occasion, M.R. Prayangsri Wattanakun, assistant secretary-general of the Thai Red Cross Society, graciously presided over the press conference ceremony. Spokespersons include Dr.Taweesak Bunluesin, Esso director, Khun Suchart Phowatthanasathian, Esso director and Refinery manager, together with Emeritus Professor Dr. Chaiwet Nuchprayoon, director of Somdej Na Sriracha Hospital, Chonburi province, and Khun Janprapa Vichitcholchai, Deputy Director of Fund Raising Bureau, Thai Red Cross Society.
Esso Director Dr.Taweesak said, "Esso and ExxonMobil affiliates in Thailand have been operating in Thailand for 125 years, providing quality fuels and lubes as well as chemical products to serve the growth of the country. We emphasize on doing business operations that go along with social responsibility, while engaging, creating and supporting prosperity in the communities where we have been working and are located. To mark the 125th anniversary of our presence in Thailand this year, Esso and ExxonMobil affiliates in Thailand in cooperation with the Thai Red Cross Society organizes "ESSO RUN: 125 years of bonding together, growing the future”.
This event is aimed to help promote culture of health in Thai society as well as to make a merit at the same time. Esso and ExxonMobil affiliates in Thailand will donate 100% of proceeds from registration fee without deducting any expenses to Thai Red Cross Society for the purchase of medical equipment for a newly constructed Sri Sawarin Thiranusorn commemorating 150 years Building at Somdej Na Sriracha Hospital, Chonburi province."
Thai Red Cross Assistant Secretary-General M.R. Priyangsri added, "The Thai Red Cross Society adores the good deed of Esso and ExxonMobil affiliates in Thailand in organizing "ESSO RUN" with kind intention to raise funds for the purchase of medical equipment to the Somdej Na Sriracha Hospital in support to the activities of the Thai Red Cross Society. It is great that all the proceeds from registration fee will be donated in full for this charity purpose. This also copes with The Thai Red Cross
Society mission to become a center of medical services in the Eastern region that meets international standards and ready to serve the ASEAN Community in handling health cases including those from accidents, casualties or other emergency conditions.”
Director of Somdej Na Sriracha Hospital, Emeritus Professor Dr. Chaiwet Nuchprayoon, also mentioned, "We are thankful to Esso and ExxonMobil affiliates in Thailand for recognizing the importance of medical equipment for emergency use by the hospital. At present, Somdej Na Sriracha Hospital is overcrowded and has the burden of serving more than 1 million patients per year. The existing buildings and medical tools are rather old which cannot well assist critical or emergency patients. The hospital therefore started the construction of Sri Sawarin Thiranusorn commemorating 150 years Building, to serve as a holistic health care center that can provide medical treatments, preventive care, health promotion up to international standards and emergency medical care. The proceeds from the Esso Run will help support the purchase of modernized medical equipment to cope with the hospital needs and services.
The Charity Run event "ESSO RUN: 125 years of bonding together, growing the future” will be held on Sunday, 8 September 2019, on the route around Rattanakosin Island which has the most historic and exotic landmarks in Thailand such as the Grand Palace, Giant Swing, Victory Monument, Equestrian Statue of King Chulalongkorn, Mahakan Fort, etc. This event will bring together charitable runners to sweat and do a merit at the same time.

Application opens for 3,000 participants (which is now fully booked). However, interested parties can also donate money to contribute to the funds throughout the period.
