dtac reveals “Facebook” tops most popular applications over New Year’s holiday

     January 1, 2017 – dtac reveals that “Facebook” tops the most popular application list during the New Year’s holiday, followed by Instagram and LINE. dtac has prepared its network for the New Year’s holiday with a 24-hour support team to ensure network availability and offered free WiFi to postpaid and prepaid customers as well as the public.
     Mr. Prathet Tankuranun, Chief Technology Officer, Total Access Communication PLC or dtac said, “Our statistics shows that the top 5 provinces with the highest data usage during the year-end season to the New Year’s holiday are 1. Bangkok 2. Chonburi 3. Samut Prakarn 4. Pathum Thani and 5. Nonthaburi. Meanwhile, the 5 most popular applications are 1. Facebook/Facebook Messenger 2. Instagram 3. LINE/LINE VOIP 4.WhatsApp and 5. Twitter. The peak hour period is from 20:00 hrs. – 20:30 hrs. of December 31, 2016 (data as of 07:00 hrs. on January 1, 2017).”
     To get its network ready for the upcoming New Year’s holiday, dtac has prepared mobile BTS, signal boosters, and parameter tuning to cope with heavy data traffic and customers’ mobile demands during the New Year’s holiday, especially at major transportation hubs, including airports and bus terminals filled with passengers travelling back to their hometown and tourists heading to destinations in northern, northeastern, central, eastern, and southern Thailand, and other congested events such as cross-year prayers across Bangkok and other provinces. 
     “In addition to giving customer reassurance of network coverage, dtac offers free WiFi access to both postpaid and prepaid customers for 12 days from December 23, 2016 to January 3, 2017. Customers can sign up for the free WiFi service by calling *104*60# and access dtac WiFi network at over 150 leading department store nationwide, top universities, 23 BTS stations, Mo Chit Bus Terminal, and terminal areas of 6 major airports, including Suvarnabhumi, Don Muang, Chiang Mai, Phuket, and Hat Yai,” said Prathet.
      dtac free WiFi is also available to non-dtac customers who can check coverage areas at www.dtac.co.th/wifi and login to @dtac wifi and complete a registration process.
