Threads of Heritage: Bangladesh-Thailand Silk Exposition

“This Fashion Show is to create cultural and heritage connectivity between silk weaver and artisans of two nations”, said by H.E. Saida Muna Tasneem, Bangladesh Ambassador to Thailand. Dedicated to Queen Sirikit as a tribute to Her Majesty’s contribution to promoting heritage silk in Thailand and to all the cotton and silk weavers from Bangladesh and Thailand who have kept our heritage looms alive, the Threads of Heritage Show has been held at Grand Ball Room of Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre (QSNCC), Bangkok . The show is part of the Bangladesh trade and Investment Expo 2016, Recently. 
This show has been coutoured by 4 celebrity designers from Bangladesh, Thailand and Japan. Bangladesh designers has paid tribute to Queen Sirikit Chitralada Silk Shop silk from north-eastern Thailand in their couture ensemble. The Thai designer also paid tribute by using Bangladesh’s famed Rajshahi silk.

In the Fashion show, dresses have been designed by Mrs. Rina Latif, who is an internationally acclaimed fashion designer from Bangladesh who have dedicated her career to promoting silk Muslin and intricate in Bangladesh kattan. Dresses have also been designed by Ms. Maheen Khan of Mayasir Couture who dedicated her entire design career for folk and ethnic heritage artisans in Bangladesh and President of Bangladesh Fashion Design Council. Bangladesh has specially showcased Bangladesh heritage silk, silk Muslin, silk kattan, silk Jamdani and some other silk varieties in the fashion show.

It has been a matter of excitement that Mr. Sudjitt Sudjitt, Thailand’s celebrated designer from Finale Wedding Studio participated with his studio couture with Bangladesh and Thai Silk. We are also happy to inform that Ms. Yukimi Kawashima of AULA fashion has also been in the show with her AULA collections.

Thailand’s Minister of Tourism and Sports H.E. Mrs. Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul was present in this Heritage Fashion Show as Patron and Chief Guest of Honour and Bangladesh Commerce Minister H.E. Mr. Tofail Ahmed has also been present in the show as a Special Guest.
Bangladesh Embassy is very inspired that designers from both countries have joined their hands to design new and traditional fabric and attires in heritage handwoven silk that speak of the ancient and contemporary cultural connectivity between Bangladesh and Thailand- two Bay of Bengal countries.

We are also very excited that fifteen top models from Bangladesh, ten beauty pageants of Thailand, fifteen top celebrity Thai Models and ten Thai models from AULA have embellished the threads of heritage show-symbolic of the threads of friendship between our two Bay of Bengal nations.
Celebrity Designer

Rina Latif 

Rina Latif is an artist, a fashion designer of international acclaim. Today, Rina Latif is a coveted label, and is carried at boutiques in Calcutta, Delhi, Dubai and London. Her collections have been featured in Vogue, L'Official, Cosmo, Libas and her shows have been written about in countless international newspapers. The designer has been an invitee to prestigious international shows- The Patiala Heritage Festival, The SAARC Show- Threads of Unity under the behest of the Indian Foreign Ministry and numerous Fashion Weeks in South Asia. She is the only Bangladeshi designer to have ever been featured on FTV. In this show she present “Rina Latif Couture Collections”.        

Maheen Khan,
Designer and Founder President Fashion Design Council of Bangladesh. She is very pleased to be associated with this fashion event and hopes her participation will further enrich the friendship between the two countries of Bangladesh and Thailand. Maheen Khan’s design vocabulary speaks about her roots. Her collection is eclectic with pieces that are three dimensional and playful.  Her professional carrier spans over 30 years allowing her to transform and evolve through the the decades. Her work revolutionised and opened new doors for the fashion  industry in Bangladesh. In this show  she present “Mayasir  Collections”.
Mr. Sudjitt Sudjitt and Models

Mr. Sudjitt Sudjitt   &  Ms. Kasinee Klumyusuk-Finale Weadding Couture Finale Wedding Studio is the Thai Designer Brand that created beautifulness through the cloth. It has been over a decade Finale Wedding Studio is that famous brand in Thailand with two excellent talent designer of the brand namely: Khun Kesenee Klumyoosuk and Khun Sukjit Sudjit. Finale Wedding Studio is also one of studio that recently have chosen from Swaroski for creating a master piece dress in “The Swarovski Sparkling Couture Event” which held at Dubai, United Arab Emirate. Finale Wedding Studio has many celebrities model include actor and actress in Thailand for instance; Tor Thanaphob Leeratanakajorn, Toy Pathonpong Roenjaidee, Captain Cholothorn Konyingyong, Pancake , Yangthip Rajapal etc.
