H&M Launches World Recycle Week 2016



     HThai Company Limited, importer and distributor of H&M, a global fashion brand, in Thailand, launches H&M WORLD RECYCLE WEEK 2016 at H&M at CentralWorld, joined by superstar Davika Hoorne who talks about her environment-friendly lifestyle, together with other green-hearted celebrities such as Ploypayap Srikarnchana, Parva Nakasai, Jindapa Boonyagorn, Varut Jotikasthira, Nattawut Trivisvavet, Jarudech Boonyasit, Gun Ratanaporn, Pattarasaya Yongrattanamongkol, Pornwara Sithiprasasana and M.R. Mannarumas Yukol among others, who invite Thais to drop their used clothes in the Garment Collecting Box at any H&M stores from April 18 onwards. H&M will recycle those items to create new pieces in a zero waste process.

     H&M WORLD RECYCLE WEEK 2016 is the world’s first environment saving campaign organizes by a mega fashion brand like H&M. This aims to collect old and unwanted clothes from around the world through more than 3,600 H&M stores. During this year’s World Recycle Week, H&M aims to collect 1,000 tonnes of garments. The program is part of H&M’s goal to close the loop in fashion and recycle unwanted garments to create recycled textile fibers for new clothes, highlighting the environmental impact of clothes going to landfills around the world. Customers who drop their old clothes in the Garment Collecting Box receive a 300 baht voucher to use at H&M.


     Close the Loop is a central commitment of H&M’s Conscious Actions for sustainability. The aim is to create a closed loop for textiles, so that unwanted clothes can be reused and recycled to create fresh textile fibres for new products. The long-term goal is to have zero garments going to landfill, as well as saving on natural resources. By recycling just one T-shirt 2,100 litres of water can be saved – imagine the impact of 1,000 tonnes garments collected during World Recycle Week, and this is the first time for Thailand to participate in this recycle week.
