April 22, 2016 - Mr. Lars Norling, Chief Executive Officer, Total Access Communication PLC or dtac, said, dtac currently has a very strong spectrum portfolio and is providing the best digital services to our customers. We will not bid for the 900MHz auction at this point in time. However, to ensure our sustainable growth, we have every intent on securing sufficient spectrum we need to serve our fast growing customers fast growing data demand from our customer base base by end of concession in 2018. Moreover, dtac’s 2100 MHz license will last until 2027.
In order to benefit all operators and digital consumers, more spectrums should be put to auctions ahead of their expiry to avoid situation like what all the industry stakeholders have been facing. A national spectrum roadmap is strongly required in place as a sustainable solution to the industry.
“With the current spectrum portfolio, dtac will expand 4G bandwidth on 1800MHz from 15MHz to 20MHz in Bangkok by mid-year. Only dtac digital customers will be able to enjoy super faster digital experience on the widest bandwidth of the single network. In addition, dtac 4G services on 2100MHz will be ready in all 878 Amphurs by Q3’2016 and Super 4G on 1800MHz to all 77 provinces by this mid-year. It means that dtac customers who live and travel any place in Thailand will enjoy superb digital experience on dtac Super 4G network.” added Lars.
