TÜV SÜD and the Federation of Thai Industries signed MOU

to help Thai businesses meet international safety and quality requirements
Thai companies gain competitive edge in accessing global markets and bringing their products and services to market faster
Bangkok (28th August 2015) - TÜV SÜD, one of the world’s leading providers of premium solutions for quality, safety and sustainability, is forging a partnership with the influential Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) to help 8,000 Thai businesses meet international safety and quality requirements. With the signing of this Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the two partners will equip Thai businesses with the knowledge and hands-on guidance on testing, inspection and product certification. This enables Thai businesses to access bigger global markets and bring their products and services to market faster with less regulatory and compliance barriers. The first phase of this collaboration targets 3,900 small-to-medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and various leading industry players.

Through the MOU, TÜV SÜD, FTI and FTI members will exchange expertise in the areas of testing, inspection and product certification through a series of trainings. They will also carry out joint projects and explore cooperation opportunities. FTI members can also work with TÜV SÜD to implement a pre-certification process before getting their actual international standard certifications.

“TÜV SÜD was founded almost 150 years to create a safer and more sustainable future. We have been working side-by-side local governments and businesses to strengthen their global competitiveness. We are very happy to continue this mission by partnering with the Federation of Thai Industries and help Thai businesses manoeuvre the complicated process of achieving compliance to international standards. With compliance, Thai businesses can convince more countries to import their products and services as they meet internationally-recognized standards. Meeting international standards also mean that Thai businesses can improve operation efficiency and safety, product, service quality and reliability,” said Mr. Klaus Langner, Chief Financial Officer, TÜV SÜD ASEAN.
Mr. Chen Namchaisiri, Vice Chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries added, “With the recovery of our global economy and greater trade volume, Thai companies are bullish about their business performance in the later part of the year. Despite this optimism, our Thai business owners, especially our SMEs, may not be able to compete as well in the global stage as we have hoped. This is because many companies still lack product and service quality accreditation, knowledge and compliance. This lack of knowledge and recognition impedes their growth and placement in the global arena. This MOU which we are signing with TÜV SÜD gives all our FTI members a platform to capitalize on the latter’s experience in quality, safety and sustainability solutions that add value to their businesses.”
In conjunction with the above MOU signing event held on 28th August 2015, TÜV SÜD will also organize its “2015 TÜV SÜD Environment Day” at Conrad Bangkok Hotel. It is a seminar where expert speakers from TÜV SÜD and its customers such as BWM, will speak on best and latest sustainable business practices. TÜV SÜD will also present ISO 14001 Certificate to BMW Manufacturing Thailand.
