- dtac recently revealed the
first-of-its-kind channel to distribute “Happy Tourist” SIM card via
Thailand’s first prepaid SIM card vending machine. Currently available
at Suvarnabhumi Airport, the machine allows tourists to
conveniently grab SIM card and go with 3 easy steps “select – register –
pay” in as little time as 3 minutes. The company believes that, with
the machine, high volume of transaction during high season will be
effortlessly handled, having machine capacity of
1,000 SIM cards/day and 30,000 ones/month. This is to ensure first
impression of tourists towards Thailand and smooth connection along
their journey in Thailand.

SIM card vending machine is the latest innovation initiated by the
voluntary “Innovation Thursday” team who normally gathers every few
months for brainstorming and developing the ideas.
“Monetization Innovation” is our area of focus this year – complicated
process and communication limitation of technologies will be fixed to
offer the most convenient customer experience. This has led to the idea
of the advanced prepaid SIM card vending machine
for tourists with 3 easy steps “choose – register – pay”.
1. Select
– Select one of the 2 prepaid SIM cards by dtac – Happy Tourist 299 baht and Happy Tourist 599 baht.
2. Register
– Register SIM card simply by scanning passport right at the machine
3. Pay –
Conveniently
choose the preferred payment method -- either credit card (Visa and
MasterCard accepted) or cash in Thai baht. Changes are available.
