The largest lifestyle trade fair in Southeast Asia STYLE Bangkok October 2019, organized by the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP), Ministry of Commerce, being held at BITEC from 17-21 October 2019. After the first two trade days, the fair has already achieved a warm participation from buyers from both Thailand and 70 other countries. The fair is expected to welcome a wonderful turn out on the public days on 19-21 October as well.
Thai lifestyle product industry is a complete industry, encompassing the entire value chain from upstream to downstream. Producers of lifestyle products, whether it be Smart Factory Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM), Original Design Manufacturers (ODM) or brand producers, are all available. There are clusters of producers formed in order to drive the industry. With firm support from the government sector, the lifestyle industry has enjoyed its continuous growth. Lifestyle product industry helps generate some 5% of the country total export revenue.
Thailand’s strengths are various – from a second-to-none arts and crafts heritage to high-quality production materials such as reed, rattan, sesbania nuts, mulberry paper, rubber as well as all kinds of fibers such as cotton and silk, all locally available, however they are also different from other production sites in the world. In response to the changing global market trends and buyers’ profile, DITP has integrated its three key successful trade fairs namely Bangkok International Fashion Fair and Bangkok International Leather Fair of BIFF&BIL; Bangkok International Gift Fair and Bangkok International Houseware Fair or BIG+BIH and Thailand International Furniture Fair or TIFF together into STYLE Bangkok providing exhibitors the opportunity to meet more diverse buyers and traders. Being organized under “Crenovative Origin” concept, the marriage of “creativity”, “innovation”, and Thai “original” identity, the Fair underlines the outstanding features of lifestyle products creatively crafted by Thai entrepreneurs combining cutting-edge innovative technologies while building on local wisdom with the aim of promoting local Thainess to global trade arena. The five-day trade features 1,841 booths encompassing five categories of products – fashion, furniture, gift, houseware, and home décor.
Making STYLE Bangkok extraordinary and unlike any other fairs is more than 20 themed exhibitions and special activities – The New Faces features products of rising-star producers nationwide, the Niche Showcase displays lifestyle products of a niche targeted market such as elderly (60+), mom & kids, pet, spiritual power, and OTOP for Export from regional producers, fashion and apparel under the “Qurated Fashion Incubation” project, the Talent Thai and Designers’ Room, Trend Forum 2020 presents trends of Spring/ Summer 2020, Material Solutions showcases trends of materials, showcase of award-winning products at the Design Excellence Award 2019 (DEmark), STYLE de Bangkok Hotel Showcase, STYLE Bangkok Academy, and Art Zone, among many others.
Along with business negotiations, there are many seminars and discussions drawing strong attendance from business operators and interested public. For instance, the Export Clinic led by trade experts giving consultation of export; Techniques for Developing Lifestyle Products for Tourists, takes place on 20 October from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. by Mr. Songpol Nenkanthi, Brand Strategist, and Mr. Dusadi Boonchaisri, Founder and Creative Director of Nonnormative.
