Public hearing on investment of funds

Bangkok, January 20, 2016 – The SEC is seeking public comments on draft revisions  to the rules concerning definition of investors and investment of mutual funds in line with international standards. This is to allow capable investors access to more diverse investment channels, and to strengthen competitiveness of asset management companies.
The draft revisions involve:
(1) determination of definitions of ultra high net worth investors (UHNW);
(2) relaxation of ratio and product limits for mutual funds which are offered to institutional investors and UHNW whereby investment in any type of financial instrument or transaction is allowed without ratio limit, and obligations by way of borrowing or repurchasing (repo) agreement is permitted at the limit of 50 percent of the NAV.
A hearing on the principles of the aforesaid revisions took place in November last year.
The consultation paper is available at www.sec.or.th. Stakeholders and interested parties are welcome to submit comments through the website or facsimile at 0-2695-4629 or email: puttikul@sec.or.th.
The public hearing ends on January 22, 2016.
