Bangkok, January 7, 2016 – The SEC is seeking public comments on a proposal for amending rules on real estate investment trust (REIT) to allow money lending to REIT subsidiaries.
The proposal aims to provide more investment flexibility for business sectors and comply with international regulations by allowing REIT to give a similar kind of financial support to its subsidiaries as listed companies do to theirs.
In the case of REIT, a subsidiary means a company in which REIT invests indirectly through shareholding and which holds ownership of the invested assets. In addition, REIT must hold at least 99 percent of the voting shares of such subsidiary.
The consultation paper is available at www.sec.or.th. Stakeholders and interested parties are welcome to submit comments through the website, or facsimile at 0-2263-6581 or email: corporat@sec.or.th. The public hearing ends on January 15, 2016.
