Following the success of the first year’s event joined by over 3,500 people, I really do hope to see more participants this year. The highlight of this year’s event is a new running route along the canal which not only allows runners to experience a touch of nature, but also witness the traditional ways of life of people in Pathum Thani while running across the bridge. This year, the charity run is divided into 3 categories: 23.5-km-Super Half Marathon, 11.5-km-Super Mini Half Marathon and 6-km-Fun Run. The opening ceremony of the Competition will officially start at 05:30 a.m. The starting and finishing points are identically at patRangsit Hospital.  The cost of registration fee is varied from 400-450 baht. All runners who cross the finishing line will receive a medal while the first 5 runner up in the categories of Super Half Marathon and Super Mini Half Marathon will receive the prestigious awards.”

Dr. Krishrat Trakulchang, Medical Director of patRangsit Hospital, said: “At patRangsit Hospital, we provide 24-hour service and ensure all of our patients receive the best care possible provided by a team of skilled medical professionals with a diverse field of expertise, especially heart disease. There are more than 2,000 patients waiting for a heart transplant, while less than 5% of them are performed each year. So, it is important to take good care of yourself to help prevent heart disease. You can start with simple lifestyle changes such as avoiding fat-containing foods, quitting smoking and exercising regularly. If you have heart disease, it is vital to see your doctor on a regular basis to get a thorough check up and keep your condition under control.”

Dr. Visit Dhitavat, Director of the Organ Donation Center, the Thai Red Cross Society, said: “On behalf of the Thai Red Cross Organ Donation Center, I am delighted and thankful that patRangsit Hospital organizes the second edition of this charity running event to raise funds to support the center. The Organ Donation Center is a non-profit organization under the Thai Red Cross Society and the only entity in Thailand authorized to oversee donations and allocation of organs such as heart, lungs, liver, kidneys, and pancreas for patients needing transplants.
The Organ Donation Center is responsible for all donation- and transplant-related expenses including organ preservation fluid, medications and care for organ donors, removal of organs from the bodies of donors, and examinations of donor organs to screen for diseases. We also provide financial assistance covering coffin, wreath and body transportation for the deceased donors’ relatives. Funds raised from the event through the support of patRangsit Hospital will help us ease some of our financial burden.”

The Thai pop group “Tattoo Colour”, who are taking part in the charity run, said: “Today more and more people of the new generation incorporate exercise into their lifestyles as a method for health promotion which is a good thing. And we are among those people. Being professional musicians lead us to an unbalanced lifestyle; we work hard but rest inadequately. It is exercise that keeps us healthy. So we are very glad to participate in the event, knowing we are running for a good cause.”
Other well-known faces on social networking sites joining the charity marathon include Flight Sergeant 3rd Class Waraporn ‘Beauty’ Tanawichai, Woranin Sanitwongse Na Ayudhya, Thipwalee ‘Yu’ Jaruhirunskul, blogger at SportGirl by Thipwalee, and Pornwipa ‘Lyleng’ Watcharakaroon, Thai actress and TV host.
