British Council Thailand, in co-operation with Ministry of Foreign Affairs,

forwarding into the 5th century of Thailand – UK relations.
11 November 2015 - British Council, UK’s international organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities, together with Ministry of Foreign Affairs, State Railway of Thailandand Siam Paragon, will be bringing the special performance parkour in the theme of ‘STEAM’ to the Thai audience during 11 – 14 November 2015. The performance is created by the amazing Urban Playground team from the UK to celebrate the forwarding into the 5th century of Thailand – UK relations as well as the 99th Anniversary of the State Railway of
Parkour (PK) is authentic French ‘free-running’. It is the urban discipline of overcoming obstacles with safe, efficient, and fluid movement. Founded in 2004, the UK-based Urban Playground Team are the original performance-parkour (2PK) company; creating touring and site specific shows combining parkour with contemporary and urban dance. Their work has been presented on five continents and they teach wherever they go. As leaders of the international 2PK Network they bring together practitioners from around the world and support the development of new 2PK communities globally.
Performance-Parkour moves beyond simple demonstration to create a dialogue between practitioners, audiences and the places in which they live. Dynamic choreographies explore the relationship between the human body and the built environment redefining an audience’s vision of home.

To commemorate the forwarding into the 5th century of Thailand – UK relations as well as the 99th Anniversary of the State Railway of Thailand, the Urban Playground Team has arranged a new performance in the theme of “STEAM” specifically for this occasion. A fast-paced, funny and risk-taking blend of parkour, dance and theatre set on a steam engine, this performance in Thailand will be put in a local context, with additional Thai performers, Thai costumes, and special sound and set design.  The show begins as urban explorers discover the skeletal remains of a machine that changed the world. Captivated, they open a furnace and shovel coal on the fires of the past. What follows is a humorous, fast-paced parade of scenes and characters, from a hilarious Wild West heist and a James Bond chase to the joys of inner-city commuting.
