SEC files criminal complaint against unlicensed securities businesses

     Bangkok, March 9, 2015 - The SEC filed a criminal complaint with the Economic Crime Division of the Royal Thai Police (ECD Police) against Quantum Benchmark Corporation, Globalview Consulting Co.,Ltd., Arya Payungvivattanakul, a managing director of Globalview Consulting Co.,Ltd., Ruangrit Pansiri and Aroonvadee Kittikasemsak for jointly operating unlicensed securities businesses.

     Following suspicious report, the SEC probed into the case and found that the said companies and persons, without obtaining license under Section 90 of the Securities and Exchange Act B.E. 2535 (SEA), jointly operated securities businesses of brokerage, investment advisory and private fund management by advertising, soliciting and using website http://www.qg-corp.com. The said actions were subject to an imprisonment from 2-5 years or a fine from 200,000-500,000 baht or both and a further fine not exceeding 10,000 baht for every day during which the violation continues as specified by Section 289 of the SEA.
     The SEC, therefore, filed a criminal complaint against the said companies and persons with the ECD Police for further proceedings. At this juncture, any person suffering damage from investment with those companies or persons should contact the ECD Police at 0-2237-1199 for further legal proceedings.
     Vasant Thienhom, the SEC Deputy Secretary-General said that, "At present, scammers use a variety of approaches and patterns to lure investing public; for instance, soliciting general public to invest in shares, gold or crude oil. They usually offer unreasonably high returns and principal guarantee as well as quote foreign currency as reference with fixed exchange rate. Sometimes, they falsely claimed that they were foreign companies' business alliances and needed no permission from the SEC, for instance. Anyone solicited by the persons with such suspicious behaviors should not trust them and visit the SEC website (www.sec.or.th) under "License Check" banner. In addition, please be informed that suspicious unlicensed activities can be reported to the SEC at 1207 for further investigation."
