Urgent!! DevFest Hackathon 2016, the first ever app development competition in Thailand, extends application period to November 14 and sets to be held on November 26-27 at dtac House

November 9, 2016 – dtac accelerate joins forces with Google Developer Group Thailand (GDG Thailand) to host the first ever DevFest Hackathon in Thailand – a flagship event Thai developers have marked on their calendar. A number of world class and Thai application developers who are keen on Google technology will gather at DevFest Hackathon to share experience and exchange ideas with fellow developers. The app development competition gives participants an opportunity to develop their product with Google’s hottest tool Firebase, which makes application development easier and faster and helps expand user base and increase revenue. The event will be held over 2 days 1 night on November 26-27, 2016 at dtac House.

Mr. Sompoat Chansomboon, Director of Business Innovation & dtac accelerate, Total Access Communication PLC or dtac said, “The current boom in the Thai startup industry especially in this year is largely due to supports from both the government and private sector to drive and grow Thai startups. However, an often-overlooked issue in the Thai startup industry is the lack of application developers or programmers, which could hinder the growth as planned.
dtac accelerate, Thailand’s number one incubator program, is aware of the issue and therefore has established partnerships with several global technology leaders, including Google, and most recently has joined forces with Google Developer Group Thailand to organize DevFest Hackathon to develop and create opportunities for Thai programmers and elevate them to international level. This competition receives overwhelming interest from application developers. Google Developer Group will select and announce 20 finalists, together with mentors and experts on November 15.
Awards for winners of the competition include cash prizes and business support from Google Developer Group and dtac, worth total of 420,000 Baht.
1) The winner will receive a 100,000 Baht cash reward from dtac and prizes from Google, such as Google Pixel, Google Home, Google WiFi, Chromecast Ultra, DayDream View, and $5,000 Firebase credit, totaling 270,000 Baht.
2) The first runner up will receive 3X Chromecast and $1,000 Firebase credit, totaling 35,000 Baht.
3) The second runner up will receive 3X Chromecast and $500 Firebase credit, totaling 17,500 Baht.
