Thailand, 4 November 2018 – AIA Thailand, the largest life insurance company in the country, today celebrated its 80th anniversary and renewed its commitment to engage customers and the community more effectively to promote active lifestyles among Thais. This reflects AIA’s new brand promise of “healthier, longer, better lives,” which is being supported by activities including the “What’s Your Why?” campaign that encourages people to improve their health and well-being. Football legend and AIA Global Ambassador David Beckham joined in celebrating this momentous achievement for AIA Thailand and shared his perspective on healthy living.

Mr. Tan Hak Lek, Chief Executive Officer of AIA Thailand, said, “AIA Thailand has provided life-long insurance protection to our customers since 1938, together with an aspiration to improve the standard of living for Thais. We have become Thailand’s leading and most-trusted life insurance company and play an important role in the development of the life insurance industry. AIA also develops new and innovative products and services to enhance our customers’ financial security and provide them with peace of mind; and Brand Promise: We are committed to delivering on AIA’s brand promise of helping our customers across the region to live healthier, longer, better lives while meeting their financial and long-term savings needs. With more than 5.5 million individual customers and over 1.1 million participating members in our group insurance schemes in Thailand, we are more focused than ever before on effectively engaging with our customers and the community to promote active lifestyles among Thais and encouraging them to lead healthy lives.”

Mr. Stuart A. Spencer, Chief Marketing Officer of the AIA Group, said, “AIA’s new brand promise ‘Healthier, longer, better lives’ was recently introduced in 18 markets across the Asia-Pacific region. It underpins our focus on being a purpose led business, and supports our efforts to address health problems resulting from an increase in lifestyle-related diseases. The new promise not only underlines AIA’s commitment to protecting the lives of our customers, but to also make them better every day. We have also launched the ‘What’s Your Why?’ campaign, led by our global ambassador David Beckham. His role is to be a motivator, encouraging people about why they should live a healthy life, and to use this ‘why’ to change their behavior, improving their health through proper eating, regular exercise, and good living. Using the insight that children are a powerful motivating force for people to live healthier lives, we have launched the ‘What’s Your Why #2’ campaign, which features David sharing his experiences on how to be healthy with kids across Asia. We hope the campaign will inspire people throughout the region to really consider how small changes can make a big difference in improving their health and well-being.”
Mr. David Beckham said, “Working with AIA I have had the opportunity to visit many countries around Asia and I am so pleased to be back in Thailand today. I really believe that small changes, like having a healthy breakfast to start each day and getting a good sleep, can have a positive impact and help us all to live healthier, longer, better lives”.

Thailand’s Healthiest Workplace by AIA Vitality
The “Thailand’s Healthiest Workplace by AIA Vitality” project is another initiative which AIA Thailand introduced this year to mark its 80th anniversary and demonstrate its commitment to helping support the health and wellness of employees in organizations across Thailand.
The project used a science-backed workplace survey to encourage organizations to be aware of their employees’ health and well-being, and provided useful strategies to support healthier lifestyles and higher productivity in the workplace.

The project ran from May to July 2018. A total of 146 employers in Thailand participated in the survey, with more than 7,500 employees providing feedback on health and well-being at their place of work. Participating organizations received an Organizational Health Report that provided an overview of their employees’ well-being and unique benchmarking information to help develop strategies to improve their employees’ health profiles. In addition, all participating employees received their own Personal Health Report to better understand their health risk profile and be more aware of their healthcare to manage these risks.
