Bata Shoe Brings its Limited Edition Collection to Bangkok

Launch of special Bata Heritage models at Siam Discovery
Bangkok, THAILAND: In 1894 Tomáš Baťa started Bata, a company that would become an international shoe manufacturer known for its high-quality affordable footwear. To celebrate its past and ongoing success, Bata is now launching its much-anticipated Heritage Collection in Thailand and will be presenting, for the first time in Southeast Asia, the Bata Tennis X Astro Boy and the Bata Bullets x  Julien David.
At this spring’s most eagerly awaited fashion event, arranged in collaboration with Siam Piwat, Ploy Horwang will introduce the Bata Tennis X Astro Boy and the Bata Bullets X Julien David to the media and public at Siam Discovery. Ploy Horwang will go on to share the fun and interesting stories behind these great designs. One of the Bata Heritage Collection’s biggest fans in Thailand, she will highlight the coolest ways to wear these kicks and create the season’s trendiest outfits.
Long before being relaunched as the Bata Tennis X Astro Boy, the Bata Tennis started out as a shoe for Indian school children. Today it features fun prints of Astro Boy, the popular 1950s manga character originally created by Osamu Tezuka. Thanks to Ohya-san’s creative new interpretation of Astro Boy, this new version of the Bata Tennis will become a must-have for all fans of Japanese Manga. As of March 2, 2017, they will be available at Siam Discovery Bangkok, for THB 2,990.
The Bata Bullets were originally worn by basketball players in the USA, including the NBA stars playing for the Baltimore Bullets. Now Bata is relaunching them together with French designer Julien David who contributed designs inspired by his hometown, Tokyo. He created six special Bata Bullets styles made up of Hokusai’s well-known waves. Blending these classical works of art with modern fashion made these shoes the center of attention at the Paris Fashion Week earlier this year and will quickly help the Bata Bullets Julien become a favorite in Thailand. This model will also be available from March 2, 2017, at Siam Discovery Bangkok, for THB 2,790 – 3,190.
“Bata is a company known for its professionalism, global reach, and strong values that have guided us through 120 years of outstanding operation. This is why many Bata employees are very proud to be working for us. The vision of Bata Heritage is to share this pride with our customers and thank them for making our journey a long and successful one by bringing back some of our much-loved classics with fun new styles,” explains Eugenio Olabe, Country Manager, Bata Thailand
