KTM gives adrenaline express of ultimate sports tourer as company unveils its year-end highlight “1290 Super Duke GT” at 33rd Motor Expo

The ‘Orange’ devotees can look forward to the ‘Ready to Race’ thrills
amid an extensive range of more than 14 street, adventure and off-road bikes
along with special promotions and offers worth more than 140,000 baht
Bangkok – Burn Rubber, the official importer and sole distributor of Austrian-born KTM motorcycles, officially unveiled its ultimate sports tourer KTM 1290 Super Duke GT at the 33rd Thailand International Motor Expo today. The year’s highlight model challenges enthusiasts to experience the thrills of a sports tourer with so high stamina and speed that will give them an adrenaline rush. It is being shown together with a comprehensive range of 14 KTM street bikes, adventure tourers and off-road motorcycles alongside special promotions and tempting offers to a value of more than 140,000 baht for orders placed at the event.
Bhumin Nivatvongs, Executive Director of Burn Rubber Co., Ltd., revealed, “At the 33rd Motor Expo this year, we continue to offer new products to address riders’ demands in the increasingly competitive market for big motorcycles. Earlier in April this year, we introduced KTM 1290 Super Duke R Special Edition with favourable market response from the ‘Orange’ riders who embody KTM’s ‘Ready to Race’ spirit. At this event we’re launching KTM 1290 Super Duke GT from the family of legendary naked bikes that have been enjoying worldwide success and recognition for more than two decades due to a host of unique advantages. Despite minimal difference in their model names, the new 1290 Super Duke GT clearly sets itself apart from the 1290 Super Duke R with distinctive behaviour of a performance sports tourer that offers a perfect balance between on- and off-road, short- and long-distance capabilities, as well as sporty appearance that exudes dynamism, vigour and sturdiness.”
With the launch of KTM 1290 Super Duke GT in 2016, the ultimate sports tourer version of the popular naked bike opened up a thrilling experience of speed and power combined with the most comprehensive riding assistance and safety systems available in the superbike market today. Motorcycle Stability Control (MSC) prevents the wheels from locking or slipping when cornering as it ensures that C-ABS applies efficient braking pressure modulation on the front and rear wheels.
Its electronic suspension system features WP semi-active suspension at the front and WP semi-active suspension monoshock at the rear. While Quickshifter enables seamless upshifting, the fun-loving Supermoto mode lets the rider block the rear wheel as required, leaving the ABS function active on the front wheel even in this mode. Hill Hold Control (HHC) and Motor Slip Regulation (MSR) are optionally available: the first prevents the motorcycle from rolling backwards when on a slope and at a standstill, and the latter prevents the rear wheel from losing grip should the rider chop the throttle or dump the clutch when downshifting.
KTM 1290 Super Duke GT’s innovative suspension system offers three switchable modes: ‘Comfort’, ‘Street’ and ‘Sport’ to adapt its damping characteristics to the road conditions and riding styles.
The new sports tourer provides increased touring capabilities with a height adjustable windshield, more comfortable seats and heated grips when travelling in cold weather. Moreover, LED cornering lights and automatically resetting LED indicators always give the perfect view to where the rider is going. The bike is fitted with Pirelli Angel GT sports touring tires for the best grip of the road surface.
“In addition to KTM 1290 Super Duke GT, Burn Rubber is bringing together an extensive range of KTM motorcycles, including street bikes, adventure tourers and off-road motorcycles,” said Bhumin. “Special promotions and offers worth more than 140,000 baht will be available exclusively to the event-goers, including special prices, free comprehensive insurance, free services, free registration and compulsory motor insurance, cash vouchers and KTM premiums. Customers who place an order at the event will immediately receive a fuel voucher worth 1,000 baht. ‘Orange’ devotees and interested customers can meet Austrian-born KTM motorcycles at booth no. G11 in Challenger Hall 3, IMPACT Muangthong Thani from 1 to 12 December this year.”
