Threads of Heritage: Bangladesh-Thailand Silk Exposition

     Dedicated to Queen Sirikit as a tribute to Her Majesty’s contribution to promoting heritage silk in Thailand and to all the cotton and silk weavers from Bangladesh and Thailand who have kept our heritage looms alive, the Threads of Heritage Show will be held at Grand Ball Room of Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre (QSNCC), Bangkok on 30 May 2016 from 4 pm to 5.30 pm. The show is part of the Bangladesh trade and Investment Expo 2016 from 30 May to 1 June 2016.  This show is going to be contoured by 3 celebrity designers from Bangladesh and Thailand. Bangladesh designers would be paying tribute to Queen Sirikit Chitralada Silk Shop silk from north-eastern Thailand in their couture ensemble. The Thai designer would be paying tribute by using Bangladesh’s famed Rajshahi silk. 
     Ambassador of Bangladesh to Thailand H.E. Ms. Saida Muna Tasneem said, We are proud to present Ms.Rina Latif, who is an internationally acclaimed fashion designer from Bangladesh who have dedicated her career to promoting silk Muslin and intricate in Bangladesh Kattan. We are also proud to present Ms. Maheen Khan of Mayasir Couture who dedicated her entire design career for folk and ethnic heritage artisans in Bangladesh and President of Bangladesh Fashion Design Council. Bangladesh would be specially showcasing Bangladesh heritage silk, silk Muslin, silk Kattan, silk Jamdani and some other silk varieties in the fashion show. We are very excited that Mr. Sudjitt Sudjitt, Thailand’s celebrated designer from Finale Wedding Studio would be showcasing his studio couture with Bangladesh and Thai Silk.
We are happy that Thailand’s Minister of Tourism and Sports H.E. Mrs. Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul will be present in this Heritage Fashion Show as Patron and Chief Guest of Honour and Bangladesh Commerce Minister H.E. Mr. Tofail Ahmed will also be in the show as a Special Guest.  Bangladesh Embassy is very inspired that designers from both countries have joined their hands to design new and traditional fabric and attires in heritage handwoven silk that speak of the ancient and contemporary cultural connectivity between Bangladesh and Thailand- two Bay of Bengal countries. We are also very excited that fifteen top models from Bangladesh, ten beauty pageants of Thailand and fifteen top celebrity Thai Models will all embellishing the threads of heritage show-symbolic of the threads of friendship between our two Bay of Bengal nations.
