Bangkok (24 February 2016) – Aquarius, a beverage in the new enhanced hydration segment by the Coca-Cola system in Thailand today announced the appointment of ‘Amanda Carr’, the BMX winning racer, as its brand ambassador.  The Thai cyclist was chosen for her active lifestyle, even beyond sports, and her accomplishment in BMX racing as a gold medalist at the 2014 Asian Games.

On this occasion, Aquarius also announced its sponsorship of the rising star’s bid to represent Thailand and to qualify for the Rio 2016 Olympic GamesTM to be held in Brazil from 5 - 21 August 2016.  Coca-Cola and its affiliated brands, including Aquarius, are official sponsors of the Olympic Games.
Ms. Claudia Navarro, Marketing Director of Coca-Cola (Thailand) Ltd.

“Aquarius is perfectly designed for Thai needs of enhanced hydration throughout the day, given the weather.  The reality is all of us, and especially the youth, are very busy going from college, to work, to practicing sports, to being out with their friends.  Through all these activities, our bodies sweat and when we do, we lose more than just water.  Aquarius has been designed to satisfy these hydration needs,” said Ms. Claudia Navarro, Marketing Director of Coca-Cola (Thailand) Ltd.
“The choice of Amanda to partner with us on Aquarius was a no-brainer.  She represents the Aquarius lifestyle: besides being at the top of her game in BMX, she is an active voice of women leaders – now Thailand is ranked 9th in the world; she is an avid fisher, a golfer and also a cook!  In other words, she is an ideal ambassador to highlight the importance of staying properly hydrated when you have a busy lifestyle,” said Ms. Navarro.
Aquarius brand ambassador Amanda Carr said, “I was thrilled when I got the call to partner with Aquarius.  I knew the brand from before as it is already established in other markets.  And I love its taste.  It’s become my partner throughout the day, helping me stay properly hydrated, particularly in the intense lead up to the qualifiers for the Rio 2016 Olympic GamesTM, which I hope to compete in.  It’s great to get the support of everyone at Coca-Cola behind me, besides of course the wonderful support from my mom and dad and my followers in Thailand.”

Aquarius will be supported with a comprehensive marketing plan, totaling Bht 100 million.  Support will include 1.5 million samples distributed nationally in key locations where people work out, play sports, or commute throughout the day.  Ms. Prapaipak Weigl, Marketing Manager of Non-Sparkling Beverages for Coca-Cola (Thailand) Ltd. explained: “We’ll also feature Amanda in an exclusive content mini-series in which we follow her journey in pursuing her dreams and passions.  Amanda has such a great story to tell from being raised by an American dad and her Thai mom, to her pursuit of different sports from a very early age.  We believe that Thai fans will be inspired by Amanda’s life story.”
