First ‘Challenge Kanchanaburi Triathlon’ set for October 2016

The first ever ‘Challenge Kanchanaburi Triathlon’, part of the international ‘Challenge Family’ series, is scheduled for October 2016, in a five-year deal, which is set boost Creative Tourism efforts and provide a new benchmark for international sporting events in Thailand.
Professional triathlon management specialists, TAB Agency Co. Ltd, recently signed a five-year deal, securing the rights to competitions in Thailand, branded under the ‘Challenge Family’ signature. In association with the province of Kanchanaburi, the very first ‘Challenge Kanchanaburi Triathlon’, at the Srinagarind Dam, will welcome athletes from across the globe, to race half- or Olympic-distance triathlons, on 23rd October 2016.
Challenge Family is internationally acclaimed, as the fastest growing, long-distance triathlon series, with over 40 races on five continents around the world. Featuring spectacular courses in iconic destinations, Challenge Family events focus on delivering the race of a lifetime, to athletes of all ages and abilities, while creating a memorable spectator experience that captures all the excitement and emotion of this inspirational sport.
From this collaboration, Thailand aims to raise the standard of triathlon competitions in the Kingdom, and inspire sustainable ‘Thailand Creative Tourism’ efforts. The races will help promote sports and local tourism, inject income into the local communities where races are held, and bolster popularity of triathlons in Thailand, as a whole, in line with the growing interest in the sport worldwide.
Challenge Family and the Sports Authority of Thailand are fully committed to the legacy of the sport. Mr. Sakol Wannapong, Governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand, said, "The Challenge Family triathlons are world-class and we expect the ‘Challenge Kanchanaburi Triathlon’ will inspire the development of the sport and offer the best experience for every athlete."

Athletes will face a challenging course, as they swim in the vast waters, cycle alongside mountains, run through thick natural forest, and experience the charm of local culture.
