Allied Telesis Launches IE510 Series of Gigabit Industrial Switches to Support Surge in Connected Devices

IP Networking Leader Expands Industrial Ethernet Portfolio
Bangkok, Thailand —  December  28th, 2015 — Allied Telesis, a universally recognized innovator of smart technologies for an information-driven world, has expanded its industrial networking portfolio with the launch of the IE510 Series of feature-rich Gigabit stackable switches.

The IE510 Series complements the existing IE200 Series of industrial Ethernet switches and are ideal as core or distribution switches for industrial applications.  When deployed with the IE200 Series, IE510 Series switches are ideal for connecting devices such as CCTV cameras, industrial automation systems and building management systems, or anywhere that harsh environments are typical.

The first model to be released in the IE510 Series, the AT-IE510-28GSX, provides the flexibility of 24 SFP bays along with an additional four 1/10Gbps uplink ports and the scalability provided by Allied Telesis Virtual Chassis Stacking (VCStack™).  The switch also delivers the sophisticated features found within the Allied Telesis AlliedWare Plus™ next-generation operating system, including Ethernet Protection Switched Ring (EPSRing™), comprehensive automation using scripting and triggers and Allied Telesis Management Framework™ (AMF).

EPSRing provides quicker restoration than traditional technologies to ensure that network functionality is restored in the event of failure with negligible impact on users or applications. AMF assists network managers by providing the technology to reduce their daily workloads—by automating many common management tasks such as replacing failed units, modifying configurations, upgrading firmware or extending the network. AMF also provides IT administrators with a unified network management console and zero-touch device installation and recovery, which saves substantial time and money—a major advantage when many devices are deployed.
Allied Telesis has been a longtime proponent of IPv6 in mainstream networking; and support for IPv6 is native to the IE510 Series, making it simple to deploy and manage a fully IPv6-capable network.  This is particularly important for industrial and embedded applications where the number of devices or things being connected is growing exponentially, with the trend toward an Internet of Things (IoT).

“The Allied Telesis IE510 Series has been developed to support a broad range of critical infrastructure applications and environments where a highly reliable, feature-rich solution is required for the
ever-increasing number of connected devices,” explained Seiichiro Sato, director of Global Product Marketing at Allied Telesis. “This includes IP video surveillance and intelligent transport, and other embedded applications where the environment can be challenging, as well as embedded applications where reliability and simplified management are essential.  Allied Telesis is committed to reducing the cost and complexity of networking, and this new family achieves that with an extensive range of features, continuing our history of innovation to meet the demands of tomorrow’s networks.”
