BANGKOK, THAILAND – Chevrolet Sales Thailand today launched the amazing new Chevrolet Cruze featuring a host of upgrades that will further consolidate its position as Chevrolet’s best-selling global compact sedan, at the Bangkok International Grand Motor Sale 2015.
Speaking during the presentation, Marcos Purty, Managing Director of GM Thailand and Chevrolet Sales Thailand, said, “We just launched the Chevrolet Complete Care program, a global brand initiative to deliver a consistently satisfying Chevrolet ownership experience. It is the perfect match for all the high-value, high-quality vehicles we have here today, including the amazing new Chevrolet Cruze.”
Una Tan, Director, Marketing and Customer Experience, Chevrolet Sales Thailand, added, “With us today is a compact sedan that has all the attributes that will endear it to drivers who demand for something sporty to drive, yet luxurious to be in. It will no doubt underline its position as Chevrolet’s best-selling global compact car. To date, Chevrolet has sold 3.5 million units of Cruze since it went on sale in 2008.”
Enhancements to the new Cruze include new exterior design cues, new interior appointments and new in-car infotainment technology. It features a 1.8L E85-capable powertrain matched to a second-generation GF6 six-speed automatic transmission that is tuned for smoother gear-changes and better response.
In addition to the new Cruze, Chevrolet will also display other models at its booth at the BIG Motor Show. And the good news is, these special-edition vehicles are available for sale. Customers can place their bookings for these vehicles at the BIG Motor Sale 2015 or any Chevrolet dealerships nationwide. The line-up of exciting special-edition vehicles include:
  • Chevrolet Colorado High Country Sport Package – featuring sporty black trims, painted alloy wheels, daytime running lights, body, hood and bonnet decals and black trimmings on side mirrors and door handles
  • Chevrolet Trailblazer Urban Package – featuring 10.1” LCD roof monitor, roof spoiler and daytime running lights
  • Chevrolet Captiva Sport Edition II – featuring front and rear body kit, new 19-inch sporty alloy wheels, daytime running lights, Sport Edition II decals, chrome trims and side steps (for gasoline-powered LTZ variant)
Customers and visitors to Chevrolet’s booth can also take advantage of Chevrolet’s ‘Lucky Time’ campaign which ends August 31, 2015. Lucky Time participants who buy selected new Chevrolet vehicles will be eligible to win a lucky draw, with the first prize being a Colorado High Country 2.8 2WD C-Cab AT Z71 worth THB 969,000 THB, or 45-baht gold.

BANGKOK, THAILAND – Chevrolet Sales Thailand today launched the amazing new Chevrolet Cruze featuring a host of upgrades that will further consolidate its position as Chevrolet’s best-selling global compact sedan. Enhancements include new exterior design cues, new interior appointments and new in-car infotainment technology.

Speaking at the launching ceremony at the Bangkok International Grand (BIG) Motor Sale 2015, Marcos Purty, Managing Director of GM Thailand and Chevrolet Sales Thailand, said, “We just launched the Chevrolet Complete Care program, a global brand initiative to deliver a consistently satisfying Chevrolet ownership experience. It is the perfect match for all the high-value, high-quality vehicles we have here today, including the amazing new Chevrolet Cruze.”

According to Una Tan, Director, Marketing and Customer Experience, Chevrolet Sales Thailand, the new Cruze is not a mere facelift, but a conscious effort in making a good product even better.

Tan said, “To date, Chevrolet has sold more than 3.5 million units of Cruze since it went on sale in 2008. It is known for its edgy, sophisticated exterior, plush interior and above all, a highly-responsive driving dynamics. It was a challenge to do it better, and we overcame it.”

“With us today is a compact sedan that has all the attributes that will endear it to drivers who demand for something sporty to drive, yet luxurious to be in. It will in no doubt underline its position as Chevrolet’s best-selling global compact car,” Tan added.

Design cues that make the new Cruze stand out from the rest include a new dual-port front grille and daytime-running lights. Fans of the brand will find the rear ‘familiar’ and rightly so, because the taillights are inspired by the Camaro’s. To make it even easier to spot the new Cruze, it now comes with new 17-inch alloy wheels.

Inside, one of the biggest changes is the addition of a seven-inch color touchscreen infotainment system that comes with Chevrolet’s MyLink. It features built-in App technology, enhanced voice control and Bluetooth audio streaming.

Another change that is immediately noticeable is the use of a new interior color scheme called ‘Saddle Up’. Switches have also been rearranged to make better ergonomic logic.
Under the bonnet, the new Cruze retains the proven ECOTEC 1.8L four-cylinder DOHC (Double Overhead Camshafts), 16-valve featuring MPI (Multi-point Injection) and Double CVC (Double Continuous Variable Cam Phasing), both of which work with the VIM (Variable Intake Manifold) to optimize intake and exhaust settings across all engine speeds. This improves performance, reduces waste and decreases impact on the environment.
The engine is rated at 141 horsepower at 6,200 rpm, with a maximum 177 Nm of torque at 3,800 rpm. The 1.8L ECOTEC is also E85-capable, making the latest Cruze an ‘FFV’ (Flex-Fuel Vehicle). This allows the Cruze to run on any form of gasoline, from pure gasoline to those with up to 85 percent ethanol. In addition to cleaner emissions, an FFV vehicle also offers customers with more fuel options across various price points.

Central to the Cruze's E85 capability is a recalibrated software and ECU (Electronic Control Unit) to ensure the Cruze is able to run on anything from E0 (pure gasoline) to E85 (gasoline with 85 percent ethanol). Along with various sensors, larger injectors and fuel delivery system with a higher flow-rate, the Cruze's computer can detect the amount of ethanol content in the fuel and adjust fuel flow-rates and ignition timing in real-time.

While the new Cruze has retained most of its technical systems, it features a second-generation GF6 six-speed automatic transmission that is tuned for smoother gear-changes and quicker response.

The new Cruze also comes with a host advanced technologies including the Passive Entry Passive Start (PEPS) remote keyless entry system, electric power steering and steering-mounted cruise and audio controls. It also features windshield wipers with automatic control and auto headlamp function.

On the safety front, it comes with a list of active and passive safety features including front and side airbags, ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) and EBD (Electronic Brake-Force Distribution), Electronic Stability Program (ESP), traction control and safety key immobilizer. Passive safety comes in the form of steel panels and side beams designed to resist high-energy impacts.

Launched in Thailand in November 2010, the Cruze nameplate has already captured the hearts of customers in Thailand. The new Cruze’s contemporary design and outstanding driving dynamics underlines its position and makes it an ideal pick for drivers looking for a sporty and luxurious ride.

Prices for the Cruze are THB 946,000 for the Cruze LT and THB 998,000 for the top-of-the-range LTZ variant. Delivery is expected to start in September 2015.
