BANGKOK, Thailand, 17 July 2015 – Ford Thailand today launched its new tougher, smarter, and more efficient Ford Ranger pickup truck with customer bookings kicking-off at all Ford dealerships nationwide.
Ford revealed new range-topping Ranger Wildtrak to the public for the first time at today’s launch event and announced official pricing for the entire Ranger line-up of 19 models available in Thailand.
Prices for Standard Cab variants start at THB 549,000, Open Cab variants start at THB 599,000, Double Cab variants start at THB 789,000 and Wildtrak start at THB 925,000.
The new Ranger is available in a variety of striking colors, including Cool White, Black Mica, Aluminum Metallic, Metropolitan Gray, True Red, Aurora Blue and Blue Reflex. The Wildtrak is available in the exclusive Pride Orange.
Ford is showcasing the full lineup of new Rangers at an event that is open to the public at EZ Park, near Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC) tomorrow and Sunday from 10.00am-8.00pm.

Powerful, Efficient Diesel Engines
The new Ford Ranger’s impressive power, capability, payload and towing capacity are made possible thanks to powerful and efficient engines paired to either a six-speed automatic or manual transmission.
The new Ranger Wildtrak and XLT variants are equipped with the next-generation of Ford’s 3.2-liter Duratorq five-cylinder TDCi VG Turbo diesel engine, or 2.2-liter Duratorq four-cylinder TDCi VG Turbo diesel engine.
Ford’s latest 3.2-liter Duratorq engine has been upgraded and includes a new exhaust gas recirculation system that helps improve fuel efficiency, while still putting out 200 Horsepower and up to 470 Nm of torque.
The latest 2.2-liter Duratorq engine delivers significantly improved fuel efficiency and refinement which generates an improved 160 Horsepower and 385 Nm of torque.
The new Ranger XLS and XL variants feature a high-efficiency version of the 2.2L engine, which generates 125 Horsepower and 320 Nm of torque.
The new Ranger’s updated exterior has been designed with the bold trapezoidal grill with imposing projector headlamps, while a muscular profile emphasizes the unique capacity of the Wildtrak.
The new, stylish interior design is comprised of premium, yet durable materials to create an even more comfortable, contemporary and car-like environment for the driver and passengers, and to emphasize the cabin’s width.
Behind the steering wheel, an eight-inch touch screen and a new dual-TFT instrument cluster provide drivers with information about the vehicle, as well as navigation, entertainment, climate control and mobile phone connection details at a glance.
Ford engineers fine-tuned Ranger’s suspension for additional comfort and even better handling. The driving experience is also further enhanced by an electric power-assisted steering (EPAS) system, which provides precise steering with a natural and confident feel.
With EPAS, steering is light and manageable for low-speed maneuvering, such as parking, and precise at higher speeds – with assistance varying as necessary based on speed, steering wheel angle, cornering forces and acceleration or deceleration.
The Ford Ranger remains one of the most capable trucks in its class. With a class-leading ability to wade through water up to 800 mm deep, and with 230 mm of ground clearance. It is designed and engineered to handle to most extreme terrains with ease.
The smartest pick-up
The new Ranger boasts a full array of cutting-edge technology to help drivers stay connected and in control.
- SYNC 2 in-car connectivity system allows drivers to use voice commands to control the car’s entertainment system and climate controls and features an eight-inch touchscreen with color-coded corners for easy menu navigation
- Front and Rear Park Assist uses sensors to detect obstacles and provide audible warnings when the vehicle approaches obstructions at low speeds, such as when parking. A rear-view camera gives a clear view behind the vehicle, giving greater confidence when parking and hitching up a trailer
- Electronic Stability Program with rollover mitigation and trailer sway control helps to keep the vehicle under control even in adverse conditions
- Other smart technologies on the new Ranger include:
- Hill Launch Assist, to help drivers confidently start off from a slope
- Hill Descent Control, which uses the traction control system to help drivers descend steep slopes at a constant speed
- Adaptive Load Control, which adjusts the Electronic Stability Control system based on vehicle load
- Emergency Brake Assistance, which provides additional pressure to the brake system to increase braking force when drivers apply the brakes quickly in an emergency situation
The new Ford Ranger features a 230-volt power socket that can be used to power a laptop or tablet computer anywhere.
Wildtrak taken to the next level
The Wildtrak stands apart from the crowd with its aggressive exterior, premium and sporty interior, distinctive design and full array of smart features, including:
- Wi-Fi Hotspot provides users with internet connection even when traveling
- 230-volt power socket to power a laptop or tablet computer anywhere
- Truck rear light for easier storage and searching at night time
- MyKey system helps parents encourage a careful and responsible drive for teenage drivers in their family
To mark the Wildtrak as the flagship model of the Ranger lineup, designers worked to emphasize its tough, sophisticated design.
Flanked by projector head lamps, the bold trapezoidal grille with projector headlamps is finished in a dark, liquid metallic gray. The same accent color continues to the side mirrors, door handles, side air vents, bed rails and tail lamps for a sporty appearance.
Beyond the aggressive design, Wildtrak sits high on exclusive machined 18-inch alloy wheels, and with bold graphics. The new design communicates a fearless sense of adventure. Even the Wildtrak’s signature Pride Orange color has been tweaked to help it stand out from the crowd.
Inside, two-toned orange is used as a strong accent color to add a sense of sportiness to a strikingly modern and car-like interior. A soft-touch instrument panel, topped with an orange accent stitch, imparts a premium feel to the cockpit without sacrificing toughness.
The new Wildtrak also features unique seats – including an eight-way power adjustable driver’s seat – with bold graphical elements and orange stitching that combine toughness, durability and sportiness.
